The Canmore Residence embodies a profound sense of significance and personal attachment, as it was meticulously designed by Stephanie Martin in collaboration with her mother during Stephanie's second maternity leave. Situated along the tranquil riverbanks of Dead Mans Flats, just a stone's throw away from the vibrant town of Canmore, this 3367-square-foot abode exudes a unique charm and elegance.
Inspired by the breathtaking mountain landscape that envelops the region, the design of this residence takes a refreshing departure from the conventional mountain-style architecture. Rather than opting for the typical rustic woods and rich tones, the design concept drew inspiration from the glistening snowy peaks and the meandering river. A pivotal moment in the design process occurred when Stephanie stumbled upon three exquisite marble slabs that vividly mirrored the essence of the snowy mountains and flowing rivers. These marble slabs, carefully procured and stored well in advance, served as the cornerstone of the home's aesthetic, ultimately finding their place as the focal point of the magnificent two-story fireplace in the living room. Every finish and detail within the home was thoughtfully derived from this initial marble selection, creating a cohesive and harmonious design narrative.
The upper level of the home offers a welcoming space for guests, complete with guest bedrooms and a full Air B&B suite designed to provide a secondary income stream in retirement. Accessible only from the exterior, the Air B&B suite exudes a more traditional mountain aesthetic, catering to the comfort and enjoyment of visiting guests.
